Hocus pocus! See Katherine Heigl, Heidi Klum, Jennifer Garner, and a coven of other stars cast a spell—but only because of their magical Halloween costumes.

Jessica Alba

Some celebrity couples insist on coordinated Halloween costumes. Not Jessica Alba and her husband, Cash Warren. For Kate Hudson’s 2011 Halloween party, Alba came dressed as a witch, complete with a spider dangling from her purple hat, while Warren went as Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne. “My second night as a witch,” Alba tweeted about her outfit. “Better costume this time!”

Katherine Heigl

The former Grey’s Anatomy star may have looked like a total witch as she and her husband, Josh Kelley, took their daughter to a Halloween party last year, but Naleigh’s adorable princess costume (and butterfly face paint) cast a greater spell.

Jennifer Garner

A cannabilistic witch tried to throw Hansel and Gretel into an oven, but actress Jennifer Garner already had a bun in hers when she dressed like a witch to pick up her daughter Violet from school last Halloween. Three months later—like magic—Garner’s son, Samuel, was born. Dad is Garner’s husband, Ben Affleck.

Caroline Kennedy

In 1963, just weeks before her father was assassinated, Caroline Kennedy dressed as a witch for Halloween and trick-or-treated in the Oval Office. Nearly 40 years later, the former first daughter reprised the look when she appeared in a Halloween skit for a Read to Achieve benefit at Madison Square Garden.

Melina Kanakaredes

When it comes to attending the AIDS Foundation’s annual Dream Halloween event in Santa Monica, former CSI:NY star Melina Kanakaredes clearly loves how she looks as a witch. In 2004, Kanakaredes wore a simple black dress and pointed hat to the fundraiser—and brought her little pumpkin, Karina. But four years later, the actress went as a far more glamorous sorceress.

Jamie Lee Curtis

Over the years, Jamie Lee Curtis has dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood, Uncle Sam, a cowgirl, and a nurse for the annual Dream Halloween benefit in Santa Monica. But in 1999, Curtis went for a classic costume when she dressed as a sultry witch—which makes sense for an actress whose breakthrough movie was Halloween.

Alison Sweeney

At the 2010 Dream Halloween benefit, Days of Our Lives star Alison Sweeney appeared to be a friendly witch. The Biggest Loser host also brought along a superhero—her son, Ben, dressed up as Iron Man.

Heidi Klum

Few celebrities take as much pleasure in Oct. 31 as the Queen of Halloween, Heidi Klum. Over the years, the supermodel and Project Runway host has dressed up as Lady Godiva, Eve’s Apple, Betty Boop, and the Visible Woman. In 2004, Klum’s red witch costume had an elaborate twist—wrapped around her back was a 50-lb. skeleton.

Melora Hardin

As Jan Levenson on The Office, Melora Hardin haunted Steve Carell’s Michael Scott. And two years ago at the Dream Halloween event in Los Angeles, Hardin vamped it up for the paparazzi as a flame-haired witch.

Sharon Osbourne

She’s been married to the Prince of Darkness for 30 years, but when it came to dressing up as a witch, Sharon Osbourne wanted to keep it light. On last year’s Halloween episode of her daytime show, The Talk, the co-hosts—including Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, and Aisha Tyler—dressed as the characters from The Wizard of Oz. And Osbourne? She went as Glinda the Good Witch—but with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
