Another mentally unstable and destructive 24-year-old man is making headlines for a random act of violence. Casey James Fury, a civilian worker from Portsmouth, New Hampshire has been charged for setting fire to the USS Miami nuclear-powered submarine on May 23 while it was docked in Maine because he was anxious and wanted “to get out of work” early, according to an affidavit. Fury, who set a second fire outside the sub several weeks later, was allegedly taking multiple medications for anxiety and depression and initially denied starting the fires but admitted to doing so during a polygraph test. While no one was harmed in either blaze, damages cost an estimated $400 million, and Fury faces life in prison if convicted on two counts of arson.
