Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) introduced a bill to the Senate on Friday that would make it a crime to publish the name of a U.S. intelligence source. Does that mean Bob Novak would have been imprisoned for revealing Valerie Plame’s identity years ago? Lieberman’s bill amends the Espionage Act so that it would be illegal to publish information “concerning the identity of a classified source or informant of an element of the intelligence community of the United States,” or “concerning the human intelligence activities of the Untied States or any foreign government.”
