HarperCollins on Tuesday said that it will pull Monica Crowley’s book from shelves until it can make proper revisions after CNN found more than 50 instances of plagiarism. The long-time Fox News conservative commentator was picked by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as senior director of strategic communications for the National Security Council. Her 2012 book, titled, What the (Bleep) Just Happened, directly copied text from other columnists, articles, think tank reports, and news stories, CNN reported this past weekend. In a statement, the publisher said, “The book, which has reached the end of its natural sales cycle, will no longer be offered for purchase until such time as the author has the opportunity to source and revise the material.” Crowley has yet to comment on the entire ordeal, but on Saturday a Trump spokesperson defended her, telling CNN that “Any attempt to discredit Monica is nothing more than a politically motivated attack that seeks to distract from the real issues facing this country.”
