Scientists have discovered a new species of deep-sea worm, so of course the most important thing about the discovery is that they named it after a Star Wars character. The deep-sea acorn worm, one of three new species that lives 1.5 miles underwater, is called Yoda purpurata, which can be loosely translated as “purple Yoda.” The worm is, indeed, purple and has large lips on either side of its head not unlike the famed Jedi master’s ears.
