Tragic ending to a first date. Thirty-five-year-old Jennifer Rosoff was on a date when she stepped outside onto the balcony of her 17th-floor New York City apartment. Despite her date’s warning, Rosoff either leaned against or sat on the balcony’s unstable railing and it gave way and she fell to her death. Officials at Rosoff’s Upper East Side building—which was constructed prior to World War II—are investigating how, exactly, the railing collapsed and whether those on other apartments are equally as unstable.
