In a speech that touted his record on immigration reform and hacked away at Republicans for not doing enough to help immigrants, the president resuscitated some of the “Si se puede” optimism of his 2008 campaign. “The bottom line is the Republican Party has made a mistake of not articulating a legislative agenda as it pertains to immigration,” said former Florida Republican state representative Juan Zapata. “Senator Rubio tried to do something. I think it would have been great if it started a year ago, and I think it would have done the party a lot more good.”
