In continuing with tradition, President Obama became the 12th commander in chief to meet with Christ-crusader Billy Graham. Obama is the first sitting president, however, to traverse the North Carolina mountains and appear at Graham's Montreat mountaintop log cabin. Bill Burton, a White House spokesman, said of Graham: “He’s a real treasure for our country. The president appreciates the opportunity to visit him at his home.” Obama's visit comes a week after the Pentagon revoked an invitation to lead a prayer service extended to the minister's son. Following the meeting, the president is to fly to West Virginia to deliver a eulogy for 29 coal miners who were killed there this month.
