MTV has launched countless music careers, but can it send someone to Congress? Sean Duffy, a conservative Republican from Wisconsin and a cast member of the 1997 Boston season of The Real World, is betting on it. In a rural district, the former reality star’s minor celebrity cachet has translated into formidable fundraising, and he’s poised to win the GOP primary in September. Throw in an intense anti-incumbent voter sentiment and an endorsement from Sarah Palin, and Duffy's chances look even rosier. Though his competitors have tried to make hay out of his less-than-professional past, the candidate just brushes it off. “I was young,” he explained to voters at a campaign stop. “They edit in things…All I can do is tell you this is what I’ve done. This is where I’ve been. This is where I stand.”
