President Trump on Tuesday night announced his intent to nominate Jeffrey Rosen as the new deputy attorney general to replace current Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein. Rosen currently serves as the deputy secretary of the U.S. Transportation Department. According to Bloomberg News, Rosen had been picked for the new role by the recently confirmed Attorney General William Barr. Rosenstein is expected to step down from the Justice Department in mid-March, according to reports. Rosenstein oversaw Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election while Jeff Sessions was serving as attorney general.
