What would Liz Lemon say? Comedian and writer Tina Fey was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor Wednesday, an honor that included a roast by friends and co-stars including Alec Baldwin, who dressed up as Mark Twain, Steve Carell, Amy Poehler, Steve Martin, and Betty White. Poehler said she’d met Fey when they were both struggling comedians in Chicago, and said “our dreams were as big as our unshaped eyebrows.” But Fey had somebody else to thank: Sarah Palin and other conservative Republican women, noting that the recent female GOP politicians are good for all women “unless you don’t want to pay for your own rape kit … unless you’re a lesbian who wants to get married to your partner for 20 years … [or] unless you believe in evolution.” Fey is only the third woman to win the award, and at 40, the youngest person ever to be honored.
