Most people who want to connect with North Koreans are not asking about Tinder, but the dating app thinks otherwise. In a Twitter tantrum over the official Tinder account about a Vanity Fair article about millennials who use the dating app, the company accused writer Nancy Jo Sales for not practicing “fair journalism.” But the call-out soon devolved into a rant, which quickly caught fire on Twitter. Tinder’s official account unleashed a series of tweets, including one that claims Tinder advances freedom in North Korea and China, where “people find a way to meet people on Tinder even though Facebook is banned.”
An official statement from Tinder, issued Wednesday, said the company was "saddened to see that the artcile didn't touch upon the positive experiences that the majority of our users encounter daily." "Our intention was to highlight the many statistics and amazings stories that are sometimes left unpublished, and, in doing so, we overreacted," Tinder said of its response.
