President Trump at a Thursday press conference praised the Capitol Police for running “right into the fire” during Wednesday’s attack on a Congressional baseball practice for Republicans. Trump said the officers “saved a lot of lives” when they responded to the shooting. Rep. Steve Scalise, who was wounded with four others, was visited by Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at the hospital that night. “He’s a great fighter and he’s going to be okay, we hope,” the president said. “The entire country is pulling for them.”
