Two former Utah attorneys general—the state's highest lawyers—have been charged with a variety of felonies and misdemeanors related to bribery, abuse of power, and misuse of public funds. John Swallow and Mark Shurtleff were arrested at their homes Tuesday morning. Swallow has been charged with 11 felonies, including multiple second-degree felonies related to bribery, as well as evidence tampering, and obstructing justice. Shurtleff faces 10 felony counts, including charges related to bribery, evidence tampering, and tamerping with a witness. Salt Lake District Attorney Sim Gill said, "We have filed what we think are appropriate and minimal charges. We could have filed more, but we chose at this time to just file what we did."
