The United Nations humanitarian chief acknowledged frustrations with the slow response in providing shelter to the 1.5 million Haitians left homeless by the January 12 earthquake. John Holmes told the AP the impending hurricane season and the large number of Haitians who have fled to the homeless camps could mean another disaster for the nation. The population in the homeless camps has doubled to 1.5 million since the quake, since many believe they will receive more assistance in a homeless camp than if they stay in dilapidated homes or other squalid shelters. "We have a lot of things to do and a lot of concerns and a lot of risks before we feel we're in a more comfortable situation," Holmes said.
