Zuckerberg Considered Anonymous Donation

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg really doesn’t want it to seem as though his decision to give $100 million to Newark schools had anything to do with the upcoming Facebook movie, The Social Network, which premieres at the New York Film Festival on Friday night. He and Newark Mayor Cory Booker said on Friday that Zuckerberg wanted to make the donation anonymously, but Booker talked him out of it. “An anonymous grant would arise a lot more questions than anything,” said Booker. Zuckerberg added, “The timing was really driven by the needs of Newark.”
