Thai authorities have announced that 33 people are dead, and a further 23 are missing, following the capsizing of a tourist boat Thursday afternoon in the popular resort of Phuket. A storm tipped the diving boat which was carrying 105 people—93 tourists, 11 crew, and one tour guide. The governor of Phuket declared the area a disaster zone. Navy divers are still scouring the wreckage of the boat which toppled in 5-meter (16-foot) -high seas. Thailand is bracing itself for the arrival of the monsoon season, which will bring heavy rain and storms to the area.
