A 17-year-old Chicago boy who suffered several gunshot wounds to the head was mistaken for dead by first responders and covered with a sheet until bystanders saw him moving. The boy, who has not yet been identified, was rushed to Stroger Hospital in critical condition Monday after paramedics realized he was still alive. Chicago Fire Department officials are looking into the incident to determine how paramedics mistook him for dead. It wasn’t immediately clear how long medical treatment was delayed for the boy due to the mishap. One woman was killed and five other people were wounded in the shooting near the University of Illinois-Chicago campus. At least 56 people were shot in the city over Father’s Day weekend, nine of them fatally.
