Two people have been sentenced to spend the next three decades in jail for insulting the Thai monarchy on Facebook. Pongsak Sriboonpeng, 48, was sentenced to thirty years for six Facebook posts between 2013 and 2014. He was initially sentenced to 60 years by a Thai court but had the sentence halved because he pleaded guilty. Similarly, a woman named Sasivimol (she wanted only her first name used) was initially sentenced to 58 years but pleaded guilty and had the sentence reduced to 28.
