The majority of Americans believe Israel’s campaign against Hamas in Gaza is justified, although more than a third say the nation has used excessive force. According to a weekend-long poll by CNN, 57 percent of Americans favor Israel’s side, but fewer believe it’s using the right amount of force, and a small amount—12 percent—think it’s using too little. A rising number have an unfavorable opinion of Israel, but only 20 percent positively view the Palestinian Authority.
