Seventy passengers on a German flight were severely afflicted with bouts of vomiting and nausea at more than 30,000 feet on Thursday. The Condor flight was midway through its journey from Mauritius to Frankfurt—typically a 12-hour trip—when the puking bug struck, sending passengers scrambling for their flight-provided vomit bags and clutching their stomachs. On arrival in Frankfurt, they were greeted by a steady crowd of emergency personnel. A spokesperson from the airline said they didn’t know what the cause of the illness was, as it’s uncommon for so many passengers to fall sick at once. Asked by the German tabloid Bild if the inflight menu had anything to do with it, the spokesperson said, “We generally do not participate in speculation about the cause, for example about individual menus on board that were prepared in Mauritius,” adding that the airline was investigating. “The aircraft landed safely in Frankfurt, where medical professionals were available to care for the affected guests,” the spokesperson said.
