Alan Dershowitz, a prominent lawyer and cable news legal analyst known for representing O.J. Simpson during his murder trial and Donald Trump during his first impeachment proceedings, was asked to return to his seat following an “audible exchange” with his counterpart at CNN, Norm Eisen, during Trump’s New York City trial on Monday, according to NBC News. The two have been friendly rivals for years—Eisen also worked for House Democrats during Trump’s first impeachment. NBC News reported that Dershowitz could be heard telling Eisen that he did not show up at the courthouse for political reasons—though security quickly shut down the exchange and asked Dershowitz, a Fox News regular, to return to his seat, which just so happened to be in a section reserved for friends and family of the former president. Eisen and Dershowitz both told The Daily Beast Tuesday that their conversation was cordial, and that the pair have kept in touch over the course of their respective careers.
