‘Aliens’ Actor Al Matthews, Who Played Sgt. Apone, Found Dead in Spain

Actor Al Matthews, best known for his role as Sgt. Apone in Aliens,was found dead Sunday in his home in Spain, where he retired in 2005. The 75-year-old Vietnam War vet, who served in the Marine Corps, also appeared in The Fifth Element, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Superman III. He was born in New York. Details about his death were not immediately available Monday, and officials have ordered an autopsy to determine the cause.
