The people of Kentucky can be proud of this win. Alexandria Mills, a soft-spoken 18-year-old from Louisville, Kentucky, won this year’s Miss World Pageant. Speculation had focused on other contestants, and observers were somewhat surprised to see the crown go to Mills, who aspires to be a teacher. “I've never met a stranger and enjoy meeting new people,” reads Mills’ bio online. This year’s Miss World pageant, the 60th anniversary, was held in southern China. Emma Wareus of Botswana came in second, and Adriana Vasini of Venezuela came third in the contest, in which women from more than 100 countries competed.
