Actress Ashley Judd sued Harvey Weinstein on Monday for allegedly blacklisting her in Hollywood and said any potential proceeds from the lawsuit would going to the Time’s Up movement, according to court documents and a tweet from Judd. In the filing, Judd says she was about to be cast in The Lord of the Rings series but was blocked from doing so after Weinstein told producers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh that Judd was “nightmare” to work with and that she should be avoided “at all costs.” Judd claims that Weinstein’s alleged comments, apparently retaliation for not “messaging” him in his hotel room in the mid-’90s, cut her out of the wildly successful movie series and any future project she may have had with Jackson or Walsh. The amount of damages awarded is “to be determined at trial,” according to the suit. Judd tweeted that any “financial recuperation” will go to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, “so that American workers who experience sexual harassment & retaliation have help.”
