Lisa Johnston, Editor of the Penguin News, the Falkland Islands’ only newspaper (Facebook page), is a sixth generation Islander, and a descendant of one of the earliest British families to emigrate to the Islands in 1840. She was 12 when Argentina invaded the Islands in 1982, and recorded her experiences in a children’s book, Waking Up to War.

With Britain and Argentina ratcheting up the military rhetoric, Falkland Islanders recall the 1982 conflict, and how the islands, and their lives, have transformed since.
