A South Carolina woman who kidnapped a newborn from a Florida hospital and raised it as her own was sentenced Friday to 18 years in prison, according to the Associated Press. Twenty years ago, Gloria Williams “wore scrubs to look like a nurse” and snuck an infant out of a Jacksonville hospital, according to the report. The infant, originally named Kamiyah Mobley but raised as Alexis Manigo, did not discover her true identity until she applied for a driver’s license, and realized that she didn’t have a valid birth certificate or social security card. Williams raised Mobley until she was arrested in 2017.
