Barr: ‘My Goal’ Is to Release as Much of Mueller Report As I Can

In a summary sent to leaders of the House and Senate judiciary committees on Sunday afternoon, Attorney General William Barr said his “goal” is to release as much of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report to the public as he could—although he noted that he’d be constrained by ongoing grand jury investigations. “I am mindful of the public interest in this matter,” Barr wrote. “For that reason, my goal and intent is to release as much of the Special Counsel’s report as I can consistent with applicable law, regulations, and Departmental policies.” But some of the information in the report, he added, would have to be removed because it‘s related to matters before a grand jury. Therefore, the release of the report would in part depend on the speed in which his office can identify that information. “As soon as that process is complete,” he concluded, “I will be in a position to move forward expeditiously in determining what can be released [...]”
