Tom DeLonge, formerly of Blink-182, is developing a sci-fi series with TBS called Strange Times, which will be based on his graphic novel of the same name. According to a press release obtained by Pitchfork, the series will be “about five dirty teenage skateboarders who solve paranormal mysteries while being chased by Deep State government agents.” In an interview with Variety, DeLonge said the inspiration for the Strange Times series came from his own childhood and a website he created where users can share their own scary stories. “The gang of characters in the story is based on the tribe of degenerate skateboarders that I grew up with—right around the same time I started my band Blink-182,” DeLonge said. In the press release, the musician also said the series would combine “all things paranormal and skateboarding” along with “offensive humor.” The show will be written by Aaron Karo. Karo, DeLonge, Stan Spry, Jeff Holland, and Russell Binder will also serve as the show’s executive producers.
