The Boston Globe's editorial board has said Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) should sit out the 2020 election after she “missed her moment” in 2016. In the Thursday piece, the Globe suggested Warren’s political mojo might be wearing off and she will be too weak to be a 2020 hit. “While Warren won reelection, her margin of victory in November suggests there’s a ceiling on her popularity,” the editorial board wrote. “While Warren is an effective and impactful senator with an important voice nationally, she has become a divisive figure. A unifying voice is what the country needs now after the polarizing politics of Donald Trump.” The board also said that while it pushed for Warren to run in 2015 due to the “lack of serious competition against Hillary Clinton,” Warren should step aside this time around since there are plenty of other worthy Democrats in the running.
