President Donald Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale tweeted Tuesday that it’s “time to fire Sessions” and “end the Mueller investigation” in the wake of the Inspector General’s report. “You can’t obstruct something that was phony against you,” Parscale added. “The IG report gives @realDonaldTrump the truth to end it all.” Parscale is referencing the findings of Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s new report, in which he faulted James Comey for violating protocol, and prioritizing the Russia probe over other investigations. The report also noted that two FBI officials exchanged a series of anti-Trump texts prior to the 2016 election. Trump has also repeatedly criticized Attorney General Jeff Sessions for recusing himself from the investigation and allowing Mueller to proceed. NBC notes, however, that FBI Director Chris Wray disputes Trump’s claims that the probe is a “witch hunt,” and does not believe Mueller acted improperly.
