Facebook has admitted that it was a mistake to allow one of its top executives to lend his support to Brett Kavanaugh at the Supreme Court nominee's sexual misconduct allegations hearing last week. Joel Kaplan, the head of global policy at Facebook, sat behind his long-time friend as he angrily denied allegations of sexual misconduct against him. Kaplan's appearance reportedly provoked fury among Facebook employees who grilled CEO Mark Zuckerberg about it last Friday. In a statement to CNBC, the company said: “Sexual assault is an issue society has turned a blind eye to for far too long—compounding every victim's pain. Our leadership team recognizes that they've made mistakes handling the events of the last week and we're grateful for all the feedback from our employees.”
