The Broward County Sheriff's office released campus surveillance video on from the Parkland shooting that killed 17 people last month on Thursday. “The video speaks for itself,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “[School resource officer Scot Peterson's] actions were enough to warrant an internal affairs investigation, as requested by Sheriff Scott Israel on Feb. 21. After being suspended without pay, Peterson chose to resign and immediately retired rather than face possible termination.” Last week, a judge ordered the footage to be released citing “strong public interest.” The judge ordered “four video clips from the surveillance system” to be publicly released, showing police presence outside the school buildings. The clips reportedly do not show the violence inside Building 12 where the shooting took place, according to the Miami Herald. This comes as the Sheriff's office has condemned the actions of the school resource officer Scot Peterson, who “never entered the building to engage shooter Nikolas Cruz.”
