The director of Air Strike, a movie featuring Bruce Willis and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, announced Wednesday that its October release has been canceled in the wake of Bingbing’s tax-evasion conviction. USA Today reports director Xiao Feng wrote on popular Chinese social-media site Weibo that it was “time to let go” of the World War II thriller after eight years of work on the production. The movie, which also starred Adrien Brody, was set to premiere on Oct. 26. Bingbing disappeared from the public eye during the summer, but was spotted on Wednesday after officials ordered her to pay taxes and penalties totaling $130 million. Before her disappearance, she was reportedly slated to star in the movie 355 alongside Penelope Cruz.
