Just minutes before a Chechen dance company was set to begin its performance in the Russian city of Stavropol, a blast on the busy street outside killed at least six—all females, including a 12-year-old girl—and injured more than 40 others. Though it's unclear who the perpetrators were, the city is situated in the North Caucasus, a region that has become known for incidents of terrorism and militant violence. The governor of the region called the blast an "unprecedented, brutal provocation." Russian media have reported the names of the injured and dead, which included Russians, Chechens, and Armenians.
