After spending 15 of the last 20 years under house arrest, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and dissident Aung San Suu Kyi was released early Saturday morning in Rangoon. Thousands of supporters waiting outside rushed forward to greet her as she appeared on a platform behind the gate of her compound. Suu Kyi tried to speak to the crowd, but was drowned out by people chanting her name and singing the national anthem. She took a flower from someone in the crowd and put it in her hair. "There is a time to be quiet and a time to talk," she said. "People must work in unison. Only then can we achieve our goal." Suu Kyi, 65, has been released twice before, in 1995 and 2002, but in both instances she was soon returned to house arrest.
