United Nations officials in Mali say five of the organization's peacekeepers were killed and three others injured when a roadside bomb blew up. The blast occurred in the north, between the desert towns of Aguelhok and Tessalit, and the soldiers who died were all from Chad. Their deaths brings the number of U.N. peacekeepers slain this month in Mali to 10. The country descended into violence following a 2012 coup, and it has faced an insurgency led by Islamist fighters. Separatist violence has flared in recent months, despite the presence of the peacekeepers.
