Health officials have determined that the Washington state women who was killed by measles this past spring had been vaccinated for the virus. She had a compromised immune system, which prompted her illness, and was on medication that kept her body from fighting the virus. It was the first death from measles in the U.S. since 2003. She lacked common symptoms and prevented the infection from being discovered until an autopsy.
