Two lawsuits filed in federal court allege that Disney, along with two global consulting businesses, colluded to break the law by using temporary H-1B visas to hire immigrants to replace American workers, The New York Times reported Monday. Leo Perrero and Dena Moore, two Americans laid off by Disney and forced to train their foreign replacements, filed separate but similar lawsuits in Tampa, Florida, against Disney, HCL, and Cognizant. Both complaints seek class-action status and mark the first time Americans have gone to federal court to sue both the outsourcing companies that brought in immigrants and the U.S. company that contracted with those companies. Last January, Disney’s layoffs sparked a backlash after many of the American workers said they lost jobs to foreigners on temporary visas, and had to train replacements in order to receive their severance.
