The Trump Foundation has stopped fundraising activities in New York state after being ordered to do so earlier over a lack of proper registration. New York’s Attorney General confirmed the news Monday, weeks after warning the Republican presidential nominee’s charitable foundation that any fundraising activities would be considered “continuing fraud,” as the organization finds itself under increasing scrutiny. The organization found itself in hot water last month after the state attorney general’s office discovered it hadn’t registered with the office’s Charities Bureau, which is required by law for any charitable groups trying to solicit outside donations. The Trump Foundation released a statement saying it will cooperate with authorities. “The Trump Foundation is cooperating with the Office of the NY AG in its investigation of the Foundation and, given the scope of the NY AG’s requests, is working with the NY AG to respond in a reasonable and timely manner,” the statement said. The organization was also granted an extension to file the financial paperwork that authorities demanded be submitted, according to Reuters.
