The Cleveland Browns have signed ex-Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt to a one-year contract after a video of him kicking a woman prompted his departure from his former team late last year. “I think we’re all appalled by it,” general manager John Dorsey said on Monday. “It is an egregious act. We all understand that. But after doing our research, extensive research, analyzing the situation, we came to the conclusion that I am willing to help a man from a second chance moving forward to be a better person, and that’s all you can ask for in society, and that’s all I’m trying to do.” The video, which surfaced in December, showed Hunt pushing and kicking a woman in a Cleveland hotel lobby, and the Chiefs subsequently cut the 23-year-old from the team. Hunt has reportedly sought “treatment and counseling” since the video surfaced, but could still be suspended by the NFL—which is currently still investigating the incident, along with two others that reportedly came to light after he was released. The Browns reportedly won't know if or when Hunt will be able to play for them until the investigation is completed.
