Comey on Barr’s Spying Comments: ‘No Idea What the Heck’ He’s ‘Talking About’

Former FBI Director James Comey said Thursday that he has “no idea what the heck” Attorney General William Barr was talking about when he alleged that there was “spying” on the Trump campaign in 2016. Speaking at the Hewlett Foundation’s Verify Conference, Comey reportedly added that “The only thing I can say generally is that I think his career has earned him a presumption that he will be one of the rare Trump cabinet members who will stand up for truth & facts...language like this makes it harder, but I still think he’s entitled to that presumption.” His comments come just a day after Barr told the Senate Appropriations Committee that “I think spying did occur.”
