CVS announced Monday that it has fired two of its Chicago employees involved with an incident that sparked national outrage last Friday. A store manager was filmed calling the police on a black patron for attempting to use a coupon he did not recognize. The customer, Camilla Hudson, claimed that manager Morry Matson not only called the cops, but also “slammed a door in her face and ordered her to leave the store.” Her video of the encounter later went viral. CVS did not specify if Matson had been fired, but said that the two dismissed employees were “involved in the incident.” The Hill noted that Matson was a state delegate for Trump’s campaign and is currently running for city alderman. In a statement to USA Today, the pharmacy chain condemned Matson’s actions: “CVS Health does not tolerate any practices that discriminate against any customer and we are committed to maintaining a welcoming and diverse environment in our stores,” a spokesman said. “We have firm non-discrimination policies in place to help ensure that all customers are treated with respect and dignity.”
