Christina Goldbaum’s investigative articles for The Daily Beast that exposed a massacre in Somalia have won the University of Michigan’s Livingston Award for International Reporting. In a three-part series, Goldbaum reported on growing U.S. military engagement, including one raid that is alleged to have resulted in the deaths of 10 Somali civilians, including one child. Other winners include Ronan Farrow for his Harvey Weinstein articles in The New Yorker; Emily Steel and Michael Schmidt of The New York Times for their reporting on Bill O’Reilly; and Riham Feshir, Meg Martin, and Tracy Mumford for the their Minnesota Public Radio News podcast series on the police shooting of Philando Castile.
