Amber Vinson, the second Dallas nurse to contract Ebola, called CDC officials before boarding her flight on Monday because of her high temperature. However, officials say that because her temperature of 99.5 degrees was below the 100.4 reading for a fever, she was told she could board. “The patient was not showing any other symptoms while on board the plane—no vomiting or diarrhea. The only symptom Amber was showing was the fever,” CDC spokesman Tom Skinner said. By Tuesday, Vinson was placed in isolation and tests confirmed her diagnosis for Ebola.
