U.K. detectives announced Friday that they have likely found the source of the nerve agent, Novichok, that poisoned Charlie Rowley and Dawn Sturgess last week, and eventually led to Sturgess’ death. A BBC reporter tweeted that this Wednesday “search teams found a small bottle at Charlie Rowley’s house.” Later tests reportedly confirmed that the bottle contained the poison. The Metropolitan Police have not yet commented on how this information affects the investigation, or if this bottle of Novichok came from the same source as the poison used in an attack on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia. “This is clearly a significant and positive development,” said the UK’s head of counter terrorism policing, in a release from the Metropolitan Police. “However, we cannot guarantee that there isn’t any more of the substance left and cordons will remain in place for some considerable time.”
