HOLIER THAN THOU

The musician hoped Trump would choose his own “God Bless the USA” Bible featuring Greenwood’s lyrics.

Donald Trump ditched his $60 “God Bless the USA” Bible in favor of a personal copy and the Lincoln Bible for his inauguration. Trump first started selling his version of the Bible last March, which includes a copy of the Constitution, Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, the Pledge of Allegiance and lyrics to the Lee Greenwood song “God Bless the USA.” Greenwood said yesterday on Fox News that he hopes Trump will be sworn in on that version of the Bible. “When Donald Trump puts his hand on the Bible and swears the oath to take care of the country, and he’s the 47th president of the United States, I’m hoping it’ll be this Bible, which is released tomorrow as a tribute to Donald Trump, the 47th president,” the singer explained. “And I know he’s going to take the oath by putting his hand on several Bibles. He might do this one as well.” Instead, Trump opted for a copy of the Bible his mother gave him as a child and the Bible Abraham Lincoln was sworn in with.
