The White House has ended months of speculation in the British press by confirming that President Donald Trump will visit the U.K. in July. The trip—due to take place on Friday, July 13—could include a meeting with the Queen, although it will likely fall short of a full-scale state visit. Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May have had some unfriendly exchanges in recent months—and Trump claimed he'd cancelled his trip over the “suboptimal” location of the new U.S. embassy in London. But relations have improved due to mutual support over Syrian airstrikes and the attempted murder of Sergei Skripal. There has been speculation in the British press that the trip might include a stop at one of the two golf courses that Trump built in Scotland. The British ambassador to the U.S. tweeted: “Delighted that President @realDonaldTrump will visit the UK on 13 July and hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister May.”
