Emma Thompson Becomes a Dame, Asks Prince William for a Kiss

The two-time Oscar winner received the female equivalent of a knighthood.

Emma Thompson became a dame on Wednesday, and the cheeky actress quickly tested out her new title by asking Prince William for a kiss. “I love Prince William. I’ve known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other,” the 59-year-old English star told the Associated Press. “I said, ‘I can’t kiss you, can I?’ And he said, ‘No, don’t!’” The ceremony officially made the two-time Oscar winner the female equivalent of a knight, or Dame Commander of the British Empire, for her services to drama.
