Energy Secretary Rick Perry Is This Year’s Designated Survivor During State of the Union
HE'S THE ONE
Energy Secretary Rick Perry was selected as the designated survivor during Tuesday night's State of the Union address, CNN reports. Perry has reportedly been taken to a secure and undisclosed location, where he will be safe from harm in case disaster were to strike the slew of politicians gathered in the House Chamber—many of whom are in the line of succession for the presidency. Every year, the administration appoints one Cabinet member to serve as the designated survivor during the speech. Perry, the former governor of Texas, became energy secretary in March 2017 and is currently 14th in line in presidential succession.
